Volunteering can be a great way to help the rescue. Donations of time and talent are worth every bit as much to us as donations of money and supplies. As you can see from our Guardian Angels page, volunteers make a huge impact on our rescue and our ability to fulfill our mission.
Non-profits can never have too many committed volunteers. We all have wish lists of things that we need help with, and are open to hearing other ideas from committed individuals who will see projects through to completion and interact with members of the community on our behalf with the same professionalism, integrity, and responsibility that they would use in their jobs and in the pursuit of their own personal interests.
With monthly operating expenses that fluctuate between $500 and $800, depending on how many pigs we have in our care and what needs exist for veterinary care, we most need help with fundraising (monetary donations, supplies, etc.).
We also welcome donations of artwork and photographs that we could use on merchandise in our fundraising gallery on Zazzle. We always give full credit to artists and photographers, and are happy to link to their online galleries, stores, etc.
At this time, we do not need help with our web site or blog.
We have worked with students, teachers, and scout troops who wanted to help with fundraising and collection of supplies as part of class or merit badge projects, and are interested in continuing to do so. We have also supplied flyers and cards and such for children who have nobly and generously used their birthday parties and bar mitzvahs as an opportunity to collect donations for our critters.
For liability reasons, we cannot have volunteers under the age of 18 working on-site with the animals, even if they are accompanied by a parent or teacher.
If you’re interested in helping us out, please drop us an e-mail.
