Every once in a while, a guinea pig comes through our rescue and stays with us permanently in what we call “sanctuary care.”
These guinea pigs are often the ones whose stories are the worst of the worst — cases of neglect so severe that the guinea pig faces a lifetime of difficulties best left with experienced caregivers who have access to veterinarians who specialize in small animals.
Other times, the guinea pigs have simply been moved around too much, or been abandoned at an old enough age, that we believe they just need stability and consistency. In these cases, sanctuary care is the only way that we can guarantee these guinea pigs will have the stability they need.
Please spend a few moments reading about our “sanctuary pigs.
All of our sanctuary pigs could use the help of a sponsor. For more information, see the How You Can Help page.
